Holiday Break Ideas

Looking for family friendly activities during the holiday break? Check out these local events:

Mt. Laguna– Bring warm gloves, hot cocoa, and a sled to hit the snowy hillsides. Bring items for a snowman or have a snowball fight. Just make sure to check weather conditions and tire chain requirements before making this hour long scenic drive.

Ice Skating- Head on out to the del for ice skating on the beach.

Holiday Bowl Parade- Check out the country’s largest big balloon parade on December 28th. Along the San Diego bay you will see marching bands, floats, and of course- big balloons.

Liberty Station Hanukkah and menorah lighting– Kick off the first night of Hanukkah at Liberty Station where they will host a public menorah lighting on December 18th.

Parade of Lights- Pack chairs, blankets, music, and a picnic on December 11th and 18th head on down to San Diego Bay where you can watch boats light up the bay in this waterside parade. Best views will be located at Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, or Seaport Village

Poway’s Christmas in the park– On December 9-10th head over to Old Poway Park to enjoy a tree lighting ceremony, Santa, train rides, live music, food, crafts, and so much more!

Balboa Park December Nights– December 2-3 Balboa Park will be filled with carolers, food from around the world, light displays, and various performances. While you are there check out How The Grinch Stole Christmas play at the Old Globe Theater and experience Whoville outside the plaza. The play will be running from November 9-December 31.
