The Tinkering Studio a.k.a “Tinker Hollow”

The Tinkering Studio, or Tinker Hollow as it is affectionately known, is tucked away in the northwest corner of The Glenn. Surrounded and beautiful passion fruit vines and filled with imagination, Tinker Hollow is a wondrous environment for preschoolers to develop fine motor skills and explore new avenues of critical thinking.

The children of Carmel Mountain Preschool engage in multiple types of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) lesson plans and activities such as: design challenges, imagination station, directed & free builds and an introduction to the six classical simple machines (lever, wheel, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, and screw). Within the Tinkering Studio the children build with a vast array of materials including wood, recycled products, screws, nails, PVC pipe, gears, nuts and bolts. The preschoolers will also spend time learning how to use real hammers, screw drivers, saws and drills.

Tinker Hollow is another exciting educational environment that helps make The Glenn so special. It’s a special place where children can explore their inner tinkers. As a wise man once said, “I think, therefore I am.”
