The markets are flooded with strawberries and blueberries right now, they are SO good by themselves, but even better with this five -minute recipe. You can use them fresh or even a little overripe, as they get soaked in sauce. This is a great simple something to bring to a barbeque with friends, or just a weeknight dessert with family.
- 2 Lbs Strawberries and Blueberries Mixed
- 1 cup White Sugar
- 1 cup Water
- 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
- Optional: 2 teaspoons Vanilla Rum
Wash the fruit thoroughly as strawberries are one of the dirtiest ones out there! Mix the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, stem and quarter the strawberries and set aside. When all the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and stir in the remaining ingredients. Cover with plastic wrap and set in fridge until ready to serve. Delicious with crème fraiche or Greek yogurt as a healthy dessert. Makes a simple chocolate torte or pound cake impressive while hosting.
