This Summer 5B has made it a goal to read 30 books this Summer! Below is a template for our reading log that you can use at home. Using a reading log is a great way to keep your children engaged with literacy while on Summer Break.

Our first week of Summer’s theme was Commotion in the Ocean, our favorite book from this week was Swashby and the Sea by Beth Ferry.
This book is about an old man who lives by the sea and enjoys his quiet alone time. Two neighbors move in next door and teach the old man that it is not too late to make new friends.
Our next week’s Summer theme was A Camping we will go, our favorite book this week was Curious George Goes Camping by H.A. Rey.
This story is about George, a curious monkey who spends the day outdoors trying to be helpful while setting up camp.
This week’s Summer theme is Stars & Stripes. Our favorite book this week was On the Fourth of July by Maggie C. Rudd.
This story is about community, summertime, and celebrating America’s birthday!
This last book on our 5B favorite list is Groovy Joe Ice Cream & Dinosaurs by Eric Litwin.
This fun book is about a dog, his ice cream, and dinosaurs. Groovy Joe illustrates that it is awesome to share. You can find the groovy song that goes along with the book on YouTube.
