The start of a new school year means a new school family. At CMP our school family is just like our home family. In the school family we keep each other safe, help each other out, care for each other and have fun together.
Room 11 created a school family mural using butcher paper, a variety of paint brushes and every color of paint we have.
Lots of skills were needed and used during this activity including:
– Communication – the kiddos needed to talk to each other about where they each wanted to paint and what they wanted to paint.
– Asking for turns- to use a different color of paint, the kiddos needed to use the verbiage of “I want to use the _____ (color of paint) when you’re done”
– Color exploration- Lots of colors were used in this activity- we named each one!
– Name practice- we are still Learning the names of the kiddos in our school family. By saying each other’s names when asking for a turn with a different color paint, we are exposing the kiddos to learning each other’s names.
– Fine motor skills- To paint, you need to be able to grip the paintbrush. We used a variety of brushes so we could try out different ways to grip.
Most importantly, we had fun creating and painting together!
