Materials:
- White construction paper
- Green, yellow, brown, blue, and white paint
- Paint brushes
This is a great activity to explore landscapes with children. After discussing the type of landscape you might see in the country or on a farm we painted these pictures. First, we folded the paper into 4 sections. I drew a light line so that the kids could easily see the four sections. After we folded, we started at the bottom of the paper and painted it green for the grass.
Next is yellow for the corn field, brown for the crops, and blue for the sky.
Once the paint dried, we added details to our paintings. We started with the corn field (yellow). We used brown paint and a thin paint brush to paint lines for the corn stalks. Then, we used yellow and painted dots onto the brown section. We talked about how a farmer plants seeds in a row as we were painting. Lastly, we used a dabbing technique and created white clouds onto our sky.
Once the paint dried, we displayed them in our classroom.
