Nature Findings and Pastel Drawings

This week up in The Studio our CMP artists had fun collecting small natural found objects in The Glenn. Then they created a design with them by placing onto a small mirror. After observing each object and describing the shapes and textures, they created a drawing. Finally, they used pastels to blend and mix colors. Some students colored in the objects carefully, while others created a whirlwind of beautiful colors, movement and details.

Materials:

• Mirrors
• Pencils
• Pastels
• Natural Objects
• Paper
• Small plastic bags

Instructions:

1. Go out into nature and collect 5 small objects
2. Place the objects onto the mirror, create a pattern or design
3. Observe the objects and draw with pencil
4. Add pastels, practice mixing and blending colors
5. Have Fun!
