Treasure Maps

Materials:

• Paper
• Markers and crayons

We have been talking about pirates all week and decided to make our own treasure maps. We started out by taking a look around our classroom and looking for places we could hide a treasure chest. We created a large map together to brainstorm ideas and how we wanted to lay out our own maps. We also talked about giving the everyday objects in our classroom silly pirate names such as “Table Island” and “Parrot Play Cove.” After our brainstorming, we went to work on our own maps.

After the kids finished, the teachers helped to label their treasure map and then presented them to the class. We even hid treasure and had other friends use the map to find it!
